Peabody pulls plug on Illinois operation

RESERVE exhaustion and geological conditions both led to Peabody Energy's close of the Vermilion Grove underground operation in Illinois on Thursday, but the company says it will offer the mine’s 160 workers employment at its other Midwest operations.
